We were recently contacted by a national gym group in Surrey regarding a sectional GRP cold water storage tank which was leaking due to four tank panels having failed due to various cracks forming around the bolts.
The GRP tank panels had failed due to the internal tie rods, sometimes referred to as “corsetry” having not been tightened properly when the water tank was first installed.
This essentially allowed for the water tank to bulge and put pressure on the water tanks panels which over time subsequently caused them to crack.
Naturally the cracked panels caused the water tank to leak heavily, which left our client with only two possible solutions.
As the overall structural integrity of tank had been compromised, a full internal tank reline would not solve the issue & a full water tank replacement would be very costly.
We therefore provided them with the cost effective option to carry out a water tank repair and replace the existing failed water tank panels with four new GRP water tank panels, while also re torqueing the internal tie rods & bolts to increase the structural rigidity of the water tank.
Once completed we then disinfected the water tank prior to refilling and placing the pumps back online.
