Echo Square Services were asked to provide a solution for the repair and relining of six non-compliant galvanised steel cold water storage tanks which had an existing non-compliant bitumen coating.
The six cold water storage tanks were situated in the loft space of a church which had been converted into accommodation for asylum seekers in Camberwell, South London.
Access was particularly difficult, therefore carrying out a water tank replacement would have been almost impossible, very disruptive, and expensive.
All six tanks were linked together in pairs, which enabled our operatives to isolate one pair of cold water storage tanks at a time ensuring the buildings cold water down services remained online throughout the entire process resulting in minimal disruption to the buildings cold water down services.
Our operatives manually prepared the internal surfaces of all six cold water storage tanks utilising small mechanical hand tools to remove the existing non-compliant bitumen coating, all six cold water storage tanks were then given long term protection by the application of two coats of WRAS approved solvent free polyurethane coating.
All compliant GRP water tank lids were then securely refitted to the top of each tank.
Now that the water tank relines were complete the tanks were refilled and disinfected prior to being placed back into service.
