Echo Square Services were recently contacted in relation to the sprinkler tank liner replacement and refurbishment of a sprinkler tank located in a factory in Kent.
The existing butyl liner was almost twenty years old and had begun to perish, subsequently causing the tank liner to fail and the sprinkler tank to leak.
Our solution included the removal and disposal of the failed butyl liner and the refurbishment of all ancillary parts of the sprinkler tank.
This included the preparation and coating of the corroded suction vortex at the base of the sprinkler tank, as well as the preparation and coating of the corroded roof purlins utilising a anti corrosion protective epoxy coating.
As part of the project our operatives also installed a prefabricated stainless steel low level access hatch at the base of the sprinkler tank to lower the confined spaces risk associated with operatives entering the sprinkler tank when carrying out future maintenance and inspection works.
Upon completion of all ancillary remedial works the new EPDM tank liner was installed and the sprinkler tank was refilled and tested ensuring the factories fire suppression could be placed back online.
Sprinkler tank liner replacements and refurbishments should always be considered as the most practical solution in comparison to carrying out costly and disruptive water tank replacement works.
