Echo Square recently completed the full turnkey replacement of two oversized cold water storage tanks for a client in London.
We replaced one tank at a time, and ensured minimum downtime.
Upon completion, we fully cleaned and disinfected the two tanks prior to placing the system online.
What are the benefits of Water Tank Replacements?

Replacing a water tank can be quite costly, so you shouldn’t make this decision lightly. We recommend replacing your water tank if the pros outweigh the cons. In some cases, you only need to maintain water tanks. They will then continue to run for years like a well oiled machine.
In this example, our client made the decision to replace their water tanks after an initial consultation with us. Their previous old Galvanised Steel Water Tanks were heavily corroded and took up a lot of room due to their huge size.
By replacing these water tanks with smaller, sectional GRP tanks, they took up a lot less room and were far more efficient, allowing for improved turnover. They were also more energy efficient, which was important to not only us, but our client too.
We have highlighted more reasons to replace a water tank below.
Compliance

All water tanks must meet HSE and WRAS Regulations in order to be compliant. These regulations are in place to make sure that you and your building visitors are not at risk. If your older tank is no longer compliant, then you must replace your water tank in order to remain compliant.
Energy Efficient
We touched on energy efficiency above, however in this day and age having a tank that uses less energy is all the more important. With energy costs soaring, all businesses are looking at ways in which they can use less energy. Is your tank using a high amount of energy resources?
Space Efficient
Older tanks use much more space, because when these were invented they had to be. In the past, we didn’t have the technology to create smaller tanks which were more efficient. However, in recent years we now do. Why should you have a big tank taking up so much space, when you can have smaller, more effective tanks and more room for additional equipment?
Conclusion
Old Galvanised Steel tanks are susceptible to heavy corrosion due to water always being present. By using newer, Glass Reinforced Plastic tanks, these are durable and are perfect for storing huge amounts of water long term. GRP tanks are an economical choice, offer more space for equipment and are energy efficient, plus are compliant with HSE and WRAS regulations.
