Sprinkler Tank Reline London

Sprinkler tank reline recently completed in central London.

Our clients GRP sprinkler tank was leaking from various joints situated between the water tanks panels.

These major tank leaks were caused from the natural deterioration of the mastic used to seal the panels together over time.

This is a very common issue that occurs with sectional GRP cold water storage tanks especially with older installations.

These issues must be urgently addressed, in particular when fire suppression systems are concerned.

It is of paramount importance that sprinkler tank systems operate seamlessly, especially in the unlikely event that a fire should occur in a building.

Our client therefore decided that a full sprinkler tank reline was required to ensure the long term guaranteed protection of their sites sprinkler tank.

The Importance of a Fire Sprinkler System

A fire sprinkler tank system is a critical component in fire protection mechanisms within buildings. This system comprises various interconnected elements that work in tandem to ensure a reliable and swift water supply in the event of a fire emergency

The Water Storage Tank: The Heart of the System

At the core of this system lies the water storage tank, strategically positioned within the building. This tank, often situated underground or in a dedicated room, serves as a reservoir solely intended for fire protection purposes. Its primary function is to store a sufficient quantity of water ready to be deployed when a fire outbreak occurs.

Pump and Piping Network: Supply and Distribution

To maintain a constant water supply, the tank is connected to a pump and an intricate network of pipes. The pump works diligently to ensure the tank remains filled with water, while the pipes act as conduits, linking the reservoir to the building’s fire sprinkler system. This network facilitates the rapid distribution of water to the sprinkler heads when required.

Pressure Management: Ensuring Swift Response

Swift response is crucial in firefighting scenarios. To expedite water flow into the sprinkler system upon activation, the tank is pressurised. This pressure is upheld either by a dedicated pump or by the presence of pressurised gas within the tank. This readiness ensures immediate and efficient water distribution throughout the system.

Fire Detection and Activation Process

Fire detection mechanisms, often triggered by heat, smoke, or sophisticated fire alarm systems, initiate the system. When a fire is detected, a valve is activated, allowing water from the tank to flow swiftly into the sprinkler pipes, poised for immediate deployment.

Sprinkler Head Activation: Targeted Response

Precision is key in the fire sprinkler system. Each sprinkler head is strategically positioned and heat-sensitive. When the surrounding temperature reaches a specific threshold, individual sprinkler heads activate independently, releasing water directly onto the flames. This targeted approach ensures only the necessary sprinklers engage, minimising water usage and damage to unaffected areas.

Fire Suppression and Damage Control

The released water serves the primary purpose of controlling or extinguishing the fire, curtailing its spread until professional firefighting services arrive. The system’s design focuses on limiting damage while safeguarding lives and property.

System Reset and Readiness

Once activated, efforts are made to promptly refill the tank to ensure it is ready for subsequent fire emergencies. This proactive approach ensures the system is always prepared to respond effectively in case of future incidents.

By employing these components and functionalities, fire sprinkler tank systems aim to swiftly and effectively combat fires, reducing their impact and ensuring the safety of occupants and property within buildings.

We manage a large residential block and recently reached out to Echo to quote to reline two water tanks that were failing. An absolute fantastic service all round. A quote was received within a day or so. Works were booked in and communication was excellent. We were really impressed with the engineers on the day. They communicated well on the day in terms of the plan of action. Once the work was complete, they ensured all areas were left clean and tidy. A follow up report post works was sent very soon after the works. We look forward to working with Echo again. The work was quoted for promptly and the work carried out to a high standard by the engineers who were courteous and friendly despite their long drive to site. My client was very impressed and so grateful to have her Cistern back in working order. I would highly recommend this company and will most definitely approach them again should I have another client with tank issues in the future. 5 star service!

Having used other companies in the past I can wholeheartedly say that our dealings with Nationwide Tank Relining have been a breath of fresh air. We have had tanks relined, water hygiene assessments and floor coatings. All work was carried out in a timely manner and the quality of work has each and every time been exemplary. My bosses are thrilled with my decision to switch to Nationwide Tank Relining and a tank that was relined 10 years ago by them still looks good as new internally, and the money we've saved from choosing the right supplier has proven to be a very smart business move. Highly recommended!
