Echo Square recently completed the full tank reline and refurbishment of a two piece GRP cold water storage tank in Wandsworth, London.
The water tanks internal surfaces had been compromised by black spore osmosis and blistering.
The mild steel strengthening bar was also heavily corroded.
Subsequently, the tank was highlighted as being non-compliant with ACOP L8 following a the recent completion of a Legionella risk assessment.
It was recommended that the water tank should be relined with a WRAS approved coating.
We initially faced an issue of not being able to take the tank offline for an extended period of time while we carried out the works.
Our solution involved installing a mains water bypass which allowed our operatives to take the water tank offline while we carried out our tank relining works.
The mains bypass ensured the building didn’t lose its cold water down services throughout the relining process.
The water tank was drained and all internal surfaces were extensively prepared.
Two coats of drinking water polyurethane was then applied to all internal surfaces.
Following completion of the water tank reline our operatives carried out a full water tank clean & disinfection prior to refilling the tank and placing it back into service
