GRP Water Tank Reline Paddington

Echo Square Services recently completed the full internal tank reline and refurbishment of a GRP cold water storage tank in Paddington, central London.

The water tank was suffering from heavy black spore osmosis which was occuring beneath the water tanks internal gel coat.

This was in fact one of the worst examples of black spore osmosis we’d ever seen in a potable water tank.

The occurrence of black sporing beneath the gel coat of GRP cold water storage tanks is becoming quite common, nevertheless it is an issue which should be rectified as required by ACOP L8 and the technical guidance HSG274.

Therefore additional attention was required to ensure the black spores were completely removed prior to applying our WRAS approved coating.

Our operatives initially carried out extensive preparation of the tanks internal surfaces taking care to ensure the internal gel coat was completely removed prior to reinforcing the water tanks critical areas.

Once the water tanks internal surfaces were sufficiently prepared our operatives applied two coats of WRAS approved polyurethane coating to all internal surfaces.

The fully refurbished water tank was then disinfected and refilled prior to placing the system back online
