London Hotel Water Tank Reline - Echo Square Services Ltd

Echo Square Services were delighted to have been awarded the opportunity to complete the full water tank refurbishment and relining of two non-compliant sectional GRP cold water storage tanks located on the roof of a Hotel on behalf of a prestigious international hotel chain.

Initially, our client reviewed the option of carrying out a full water tank replacement.

However, following on from our assessment we found there was a more sustainable and cost effective solution which involved carrying out the full refurbishment and water tank reline of both cold water storage tanks.

Both cold water tanks were leaking & suffered from the heavy delamination of the water tanks internal gel coat resulting in both water tanks being deemed non-compliant with ACOP L8 guidelines and requiring a full refurbishment & reline with a WRAS approved polyurethane coating.

The hotel’s entire potable cold water supply is supplied by both cold water storage tanks therefore it was essential only one cold water storage was refurbished at a time ensuring the hotels cold water services remained online throughout the entire project.

Both cold water storage tanks also had non-compliant hollow roof supports in place which our operatives replaced with WRAS approved GRP solid roof supports prior to extensively preparing the tanks internal surfaces with mechanical hand tools.

Our operatives then applied two coats of ES 988 DWPU flexible polyurethane coating to all internal surfaces of the structure, fully encapsulating all joints and exposed areas.

Shortly after commencing the works, it became apparent that the water tanks roofs were allowing for the ingress of rain water through gaps in the panels seams.

To resolve this issue our operative’s fibre glass repaired all joints between the roof panels followed by externally coating both roofs with a UV stabilised epoxy coating to protect them from weathering.

Both cold water storage tanks were spray disinfected upon completion of works prior to them being placed back into service.

Shortly after the completion of our works our client received a full photographic completion report detailing every critical stage throughout the project accompanied by our long term guarantee.

We manage a large residential block and recently reached out to Echo to quote to reline two water tanks that were failing. An absolute fantastic service all round. A quote was received within a day or so. Works were booked in and communication was excellent. We were really impressed with the engineers on the day. They communicated well on the day in terms of the plan of action. Once the work was complete, they ensured all areas were left clean and tidy. I contacted Echo Square on behalf of a client of mine who urgently needed her Victorian underground Cistern re lined. The work was quoted for promptly and the work carried out to a high standard by the engineers who were courteous and friendly despite their long drive to site.
