Echo Square Services Ltd were recently contacted in relation to a solution for the refurbishment and relining of three leaking cooling towers located on the roof of a major London hospital.
The mastic between the joints of each cooling tower had began to deteriorate which had subsequently caused the cooling towers to leak from critical areas.
Each cooling tower reline was carried out individually while ensuring at least two cooling towers remained online throughout the entire project.
Our operatives initially manually prepared all internal surfaces of each cooling tower to raise the substrates surface profile prior to repairing the cooling towers joints and stripe coating all critical areas.
Following the completion of the stripe coating and reinforcing of all critical areas, our operatives then applied a full coat of grey WRAS approved ES 988 DWPU polyurethane to all internal surfaces.
The first layer of polyurethane coating was then left to cure.
Once cured we were in a position to apply a second layer of blue ES 988 DWPU polyurethane to all internal surfaces.
The processes above were repeated twice more until all three cooling tower relines were completed.
Throughout this project we worked alongside the sites water treatment specialists who carried out all pre and post chlorinations at the start and finish of each cooling tower reline ensuring our works were carried out inline with ACOP L8 guidelines.
If you are experiencing similar issues with your sites cooling towers please feel free to contact our friendly team and see how we can help you.
