Echo Square Services Ltd recently completed the full tank reline and refurbishment of a sectional galvanised steel cold water storage tank which had an existing failed coating located in Surrey.
The existing water tank coating had reached the end of its useful life and was beginning to delaminate and allow sub film corrosion to occur.
Corrosion in potable cold water storage tanks create a harbouring ground for harmful bacteria such as Legionella, therefore the water tank was subsequently deemed non-compliant with ACoP L8 guidelines.
The water tanks internal surfaces were initially manually prepared with hand tools to remove the existing failed coating and corrosion deposits.
Critical areas of the water tank such as the joints and corners were then stripe coated prior to the application of one full coating of grey ES 988 DWPU polyurethane to all internal surfaces.
This process was then repeated with a full coating of blue ES 988 DWPU.
Once cured, the tank reline was complete allowing our operatives to disinfect the cold water storage tank prior to placing the system back online.
