LTHW flushing and dosing is a critical process often required to improve the performance of older, poorly performing LTHW systems.
We recently completed the chemical flushing and dosing of a LTHW system at a prestigious school in central London.
The system had become neglected which had caused a large build up of sludge within the pipe work, this issue subsequently caused a detrimental effect to the ongoing performance of the heating system.
Prior to attending site the systems volume was determined to ensure the correct levels of chemicals and inhibitors were used in relation to systems size.
A waste water permit was also obtained from the local authority, giving our operatives permission to dispose of the waste water which would be flushed from the system during the LTWH flushing works to a localised foul drain.
The integrity of the systems pipe work was also checked to ensure the system was suitable for operating under the pressures associated with a high velocity LTWH flushing process.
And finally, all valves were also checked to ensure they were operational and replaced if required.
LTHW Flushing and Dosing Process
Working in compliance with the British standard BS 8552:2012 and BSRIA BG29/2012
guidance our operatives initially carried out a full chemical flush of the pipe work by introducing a biocide into the flushing process to help break down the sludge and debris within pipe work.
The system was then checked at various stages throughout the flushing process to monitor the cleaning process, all stages were recorded on a test log which would become part of a final completion report to be forwarded to our customer.
Once the chemical clean was complete, final water samples were taken and tested to check process had been completed.
The appropriate inhibitor was then dosed into the system and circulated.
Following completion of the LTHW flushing project a full completion report of the entire process which included a test log, in depth description of the works carried out, and before and after photos were compiled together and forwarded to our customer.
