GRP tank reline recently completed in a leisure center in Cornwall.
Our client required a sustainable solution to help repair their sites cold water storage tank.
As the leisure centre’s facilities are in constant use, isolating the cold water services for a long period of time to complete a water tank repair wasn’t an option.
Completing a water tank replacement would also be very expensive and disruptive to the buildings services.
Our solution required relining one GRP storage tank compartment at a time ensuring the adjacent water tank remained online while the works were completed.
Both compartments of the GRP storage tank were badly leaking from various joints which was caused by the failure of the butyl sealant between the GRP tank panels.
We initially retorqued all loose bolts prior to reinforcing all seals, joints and replacing all failed mastic.
The tanks internal surfaces were extensively prepared ensuring all surface contaminants were removed.
Our operatives then applied two full coats of WRAS approved polyurethane to all internal surfaces.
Once given time to cure, a storage tank clean and disinfection was completed as required by ACOP L8 guidelines prior to placing the system back online.
The entire process was then repeated for the second storage tank compartment.
